No no, you're completely right to think that.
We've established how much Helga has pushed through and how she has been doing amazingly well leading her life on her own with great success.
And now Rohan pops back in suddenly. He has given her sweets and thinks marrying her will help and solve all the problems. Rohan has his head up his ass as much as the duke and duchess, but it just so happens that selfishness aligns to benefit Helga.
At the very least he is self aware of how much he actually knows jack shit about her now. But Helga quite literally does not need him at all.
At least not yet. I'm kind of dreading when she does, because Rohan as of this chapter is kind of ass as a male lead, at least to me. I can only hope he has more development in some way.
