I think he's kinda meant to be unlikable... dude tried to take advantage of situations yet didn't even try to level up during 5 years when he probably easily could have... so to the system, he's probably closer to a parasite...

If he was a hard working guy who was just incompetent, they'd at least pity him.... but he wasn't, he was a lazy f***... and suffered for it...
