It certainly feels like this story doesn't have any proper plot. Things just seem to happen without rhyme or reason.

It was practically finished by the point the shield hero was given reins to the king and princess' punishment. This is more of a revenge story than a typical shonen underdog story after all. If I have to guess the author probably didn't prepare for anything more and had to conjure something up for the sake of fulfilling the demand
