It hasn't been explained yet in the manga [it explained about midway though light novel 11 and the manga is near the end of book 8 [and at about a book per year it will be 2-3 years before the manga will get to it[

Naofumi is distrusted by association, the Shield Hero is a god to his mortal enemies the demi-human country of Siltvelt which he believes killed his family (only he and his sickly sister who were away at the time survived), he gave up his royal position in Faubrey (which he was 13th in line) and join Melromac army to get revenge on them, while fighting in the Melromac-Siltvelt war his sister was believe killed by the Siltvelt (all they found was a blood stain) this is the root of the hate the king has for demi-humans and by association the distrust of the Shield Hero, his distrust is turn to hate when he believes his 1st daughter was sexually assaulted by Naofumi

Added note the king was a sis-con and when he had daughters after loading his sister he turn into a daughter-con and the bitch has him wrapped around her finger
