i feel like a pickaxe would be better

the only way i can see this being done is if he obliterates the entire rock(or half of the rock)

if he plans on stabbing the crystal and retrieving it(since he looks like he's doing a thrust stab thing), how is he gonna make a big enough hole for the crystal to come out without destroying the crystal?

if he does destroy the crystal, the teach guy would probably say some bs like "you're supposed to retrieve the crystal, not break it, failed, gl doing 9-5 for the rest of your life"

also, not to say he can't obliterate the entire rock with the sword, but a pickaxe would do the job better
