This is something I never understood about Gowther's character. As explained on page 16, Gowther was a hugely skilled demon magician, who was chosen to be a Ten Commandment because of his skill. The Demon King gave Gowther a Commandment... and then locked him in prison because the Commandment he gave him was too strong? It makes no sense.
