All the elven royalty are blonde? No wonder they are going extinct.

I feel like we took a long detour to reach the same point.
Isn't that, like, what whole story here about? Failing, powering up, getting further before failing again, and so on.
A very basic formula, not enough to make a masterpiece, but It's the kind of thing I enjoy in the background for many years already.

I was talking more about the meta plot, factually between the previous arc and now, he's kinda at the same place.

(Meta Plot in broad strokes)
Castle Questline:
  • A lot. Really. Also specifically that this is a "Bubble World"
  • Ashton is deeply tied to our hero and this questline.
  • Human Organization structure. Mentions of Demons.
  • There's the "Admins" and they can delete. (led to believe broadly "anomalies", but this gets narrowed in Ember)
  • You can transfer knowledge an Lu-lium across retries.
  • Game Over (currently)
Demon Questline:
  • The early world was cataclysmic and Lu-lium is not the only ancient superpower.
  • Ashton is involved with the entire world and not just Castle Questline
  • Demon Organization structure. Mentions of East.
  • The rift (I think that got hinted as being related to Admins? Did I read into that? Idr)
  • You can transfer ancient superpowers across retries.
  • "Completed" (currently)
Ember Questline:
  • Ashton was incorporeal in the East somewhen (and generally slowly advancing the overall Ashton meta plot)
  • You can rely on other people to get things done quicker.
  • Getting things done quicker means you can do more quests within a questline.
  • Admins can descend into people
  • Hints that this world is scripted/clockwork and the Admins do what they do b/c they want some aspect to stay "the way it is" (what aspect is mysterious, since they also keep changing things)
  • You can transfer Titles across retries
  • Game Over (currently)
East Questline:
  • Ember taught him he needs to stack the deck rather than react or rely on luck. So that's what he's doing so far.
  • Admins must have some descension criteria/restrictions (or Gilles would've been an obvious easy pick, since they know)
  • In Progress (currently)
Personal growth and the new titles are the biggest Ember gains imo.
