I hope it stays this good going forward. Such a pleasant hidden treasure.

See, this is why recommendations always require a explanation. I can see why some would like this, because the world looks interesting.

But oh boy is that MC as generic as any other Chinese novel/manhua MC out there. He's single handedly pushing the quality of the story way down. It's a shame that this kind of MC is so common, because I would normally prefer competent protagonists over weak, incompetent ones, but the opposite, a one-dimensional MC that just has everything handed over to them without any good writing to get there organically, doesn't work either.

It's like the story was aware of it too. Chapter 2 does a slight trope reversal, and it looked like he'd have to struggle a bit. But no, it then reversed the trope reversal by having the system come to the rescue. We can't have the overpowered a-hole protagonist forced into being less an of a-hole protagonist, because this is still just a wish fulfillment story in the end.

And if wish fulfillment is what you like, this is a pretty decent one because the world seems to be interesting. But a story where a girl gets killed a thousand times in her dreams only to fall in love with the guy who killed her is peak nonsense (because we all know that's where this is going). Maybe I'll stick around to see if the MC gets killed and the girl becomes the protagonist, but I somehow doubt it :notlikethis:
