Kind of hard to tell whether she accepted the assassin request or realized it's an obvious trap. On the narrative side of things her falling for the trap would move the plot along quickly, but if she refuses it would show that she is not putting up with the emperors bullshit anymore. While personally I prefer the later, I have a feeling the author is going to go along with the former.

Brainstorming:
So I think the 'thing' has to be something left behind on the battlefield when she disappeared, might affect her magic and probably northern. Orrr the stone she died on in an attempt to reseal her magic.
Elkin gotta be part of the restoration of her magic/ending the sunset so I think the former.
I just want her to be happy omg 😭

Missed opportunity, since I don't think these psychos would ever let her go. Albrecht wants revenge for the deaths of his nephews/niece, and Mormodes is the kind of crazy who thinks he owns everything. The only way she gets free from them is Pew Pew.
