That's a fun way of saving some money, but for that to happen, you need a list and range of how much money you'll reward yourself for specific kinds of deeds. If you're really into it, you could even try to add a penalty system where you'll lose some money for every 'bad deed'.

A story was told this chapter, it just wasn’t the one you wanted. This chapter builds on the friendship between the two fathers, and further develops their characters. This is a great SoL chapter.
I wouldn't call 2 dudes yapping about their money management a "story", but you have your own standards no matter how low it is. Besides, what they're yapping about doesn't even build anything that isn't already established in previous chapters. Moreover, THIS point in the story is not a place they should be building anything, if anything they should be packing up their story instead.

Like, last chapter was enjoyable. It was a faux-conclusion for the rat's character where the author shows that the character was willing to accept someone. This chapter tells nothing, and nothing was developed or changed.

And what exactly is a story? Something exciting? Some action? What exactly does a "story" mean?
Besides, what they're yapping about doesn't even build anything that isn't already established in previous chapters.
It does build their relationship, maybe even their character. At this point in the story you should already know that side characters have plenty of attention compared to many other series. it's easy to skip, they are usually pretty isolated, so your loss of crucial information to the main story is minuscule.
This chapter tells nothing, and nothing was developed or changed.
Again, what exactly is "telling something" mean? Isn't it recounting something that happened? Isn't that what happened here? Every chapter is a story, rich or poor. Just because you deem the two dads bonding not a story doesn't mean it's not. It's just not an exciting, action-packed story.

You don't like it, fine. You have the right to do so. But that doesn't mean it's not interesting for others.

Finally, we have something that we both agree. This chapter is boring. Nothing substantial is happening to the characters, it’s an attempt to lengthen publication by showing a very unimportant scene.
You wanna argue this is still a story? Fine, i don’t really care for pedantry. But you really have to be a certain type of tool to really believe this chapter is “interesting”.

Are husbands having an allowance system normal? :questionblob:
If you're the only one making money then it can be. It helps you to  not impulse spend all your income like Qnoske. The word allowance does sound weird for us foreigners, but were talking about Japan, a country of weird. I assume while the husband is at work, the wife handles most of the expenses, so she has better understanding of how much money is needed vs how much their income is. Thus, the husband having a limit on spending helps staying within limits.

i liked this chapter because it advances the subplot of these two overly earnest and idiotic grown men navigating around each other's social blunders and furthers their own relationship as future in-laws their kids will one day have the pleasure of witnessing for themselves :)

in fact i can't wait for the day the moms become further fleshed out characters that interact with each other as well! :D

"A constraint and a commitment"

Almost sounds like a HxH reference with nen, especially with his thumb pointing at his heart like Kurapika's blade.
You are correct

First panel has Kurapika talking about Condition (制約) (せいやく Seiyaku) and Vow (誓約) (せいやく Seiyaku) Excuse the scan quality but you can still see them there

First panel is Sakuradaimon's dad with the same exact words. I guess he is a Nen user
