Wait wait wait... so Mia's father and mother "couldn't conceive" for years until Mia was born several years later (no mention of miscarriages, just couldn't get pregnant), but they managed to snatch away Philia from her mother and convince LITERALLY EVERYONE that the child was theirs? One of the women was very obviously pregnant and the other didn't even get fertilized! How the fuck did people buy this bullshit?!

Regardless of the sucess of the plan to replace the prince or a continent wide ward, the country is screwed since the nobles running the government (treasury and foreign affairs were mentioned here) are corrupt and need to be replaced. That's not an easy task.

Whoa. But can't she at least tell Philia when they spend years just two of them? Then Philia won’t be this depressed, believing her own parents hate her.

First Prince is the one who has been ill and was being treated by Philia's medicine, and basically a character in the background until just recently. His faction is mostly all of those that are Mia's guards.

Second Prince is the douchebag we know that wants to kill his father, his brother, and anyone with talent greater than him that could stop him.
I guess I was just confused on p.13 and 14 since it seems like they're supporting the 2nd prince when it should have been 1st. I should have realized those nobles are going against their parents.

It's exactly that. This band of second & third sons have nothing to gain from the Second Prince's grand ideals of "keeping the status quo;" to say nothing of the fact that the country is precisely in the precarious situation it is because of the Second Prince's selfish actions in regards to Philia.

Aunt is also shit, years of keeping distant and silent and denying the parental love and acceptance Philia is ridiculously desperate for while Philia is living with her without shitty parents around at all because of passive aggressive toward the only innocent party bullshit. Adopting Mia is also going to hurt Philia and there is no possible way auntie doesn't know that.

Mia needs to just get out of there and leave them all to their earned fate.

And yet that 2 was NOT mentioned in the letter, it took Himari offering the option of her own initiative for Mia to know about it.
Also, in 'my' term that'd be called BACKUP plan and not 'initial plan'

Here's her realizing shit's hitting the fan.

"we can save Gritonia"
:thonk:
Yeah, calling another country to deploy their resources to prevent the outbreak is totally 'only working to keep Mia safe, not Gritonia'

EDIT:
There was also this

Where she simply sent information to Mia and was going to latter come up with her own solution.

So escorting Mia out was not even considered back then.
Whether in your ego this even count as 'initial plan' is up to you.
Yeah, I just knew you'd zero in on the most insignificant part without fail.

Why don't we go back to where this train of thought started?

The only dumpster fire was your idea to ignore long term consequences just like the stupid prince.

Everyone sensible in the series has been on the side of trying to prevent the outbreak, so where does that put you who want to let it happen just so the people you dislike suffer?
It puts me on the side of the protagonist, among other people.

What, that your proposed idea of letting the country burn was stupid and none of the 'good guys' has shown any desire to even want that result? You're the one who keep going elsewhere.

It puts me on the side of the protagonist, among other people.

Ah yes, surely Philia who proposed putting up barriers to prevent the outbreak or recently ask Pannacotta to sortie troops to save Gritonia will take your side on letting the outbreak happen.
Or Mia who made this declaration a while back
Yeah, I'm sure they're on that side. /s

The only one that seem fine with the country going to shit as long as they're happy is 2nd prince...
