Don't they have like a zillion better stories to adapt?
And Jesus, just like, drop everything and move to the otherside of the world (usually it's the EUSSR/burgerland, so already better than totally-not-idealized-commie-land). And you can insert whatever "original" cliche story there while making fun of/receiving news from the old storyline from time to time. Not like CN authors care that much about portraying authentic foreign cultures.
