Having experienced for myself the ending this omake is really was the authors cop-out seeing as though they tried to go for a coming of age story that they forgot to complete and left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. Really should added some sort of interaction between the MC's in the ending

Heard a lot of people say the ending threw them off.
And now that it's over, I can say that the ending wasn't exactly "good" but not as extremely bad as I expect it to be. I have seen worse

Overall, I really enjoyed the first half of this manga. Wish it was that way till the end...

Wow someone finally spent time translating this shit show? Lol, nice. I put it on hold awhile ago cause no one was translating it and wanted to wait to read it proper instead of second hand being told what happened from a friend lol. It sounded so bad, time to see how bad the author really fucked it up myself

It’s not as bad as people let on but it’s pretty poorly executed. What the mc said in chapter 105 about having not changed and being too dependent and all that was true and I even thought that when reading the story. Outside of interacting with the fmc and like 4 supporting characters, he was mostly the same character.
But that’s a topic that should be resolved over an arc instead of 2 time skips.
There was also some wrong stuff with what people were saying with the translations back then which added fuel to the fire.
On top of 106.5 releasing a while after 106.

Yea that’s what it feels like. One of the original points of the story was that the mc and fmc were put together by the teacher so that they could learn and grow from each other. Then the author went full romance mode and left that then went back to the coming of age story at the end.

Is this worth continuing to read to the end if I've read some half of it before?

Thank you for translating this manga to the end.
The story isn't good, but I salute your commitment.

Things really went downhill after Kobayashika started dating Hoshino, didn't it? He had far more chemistry with every other female character in this story at that point, yet the author decided to force the two least likely to date into a relationship.

Not to mention the whole plot with her supposed best friend turning her back to Hoshino simply because she showed up once not wearing make up and all the resulting plot out of that was just so dumb, it was just such a dumb plot to be the final arc!

No wonder this manga is called Hoshino, Me Wo Tsubutte, because you have to close your eyes to best enjoy this story.

It's been years since I totally lost interest on this and probably is a good time to read it again. Starts very well, but halfway it's just cheap drama for the sake of it and the departure of the art teacher really hurt the story because she was the one providing a more grounded pinpoint to all the teen bullshit that went wilder and wilder.

I don't mind cheap telenovela bullshit, but if you end an arc by jumping a bridge to rescue the girl and then confess, you pretty much have cornered yourself into a place that it doesn't matter that comes later, it will feel redundant and less cathartic.

As for the people defending the ending, have in mind that the epilogue came months later than the final chapter and there was author comments gaslighting the audience between those. It was made less horrible in the end because readers were really mad.

Yea, the epilogue came like about a month and half later iirc. 106 came out back in like mid July and they released the short epilogue in like september or something.

I don't think it's as bad as most people are reacting to it, but I can see where the frustration stems from, things definitely could've been handled better.

That said, I can't remember anything from this manga with the exception of the last 2 volumes so I don't know if my opinions would change once I reread this. Hopefully they don't and I can keep saying I enjoyed this manga!

It's strange though, like, how you can have the MC and FMC kiss in chapter 105 and then have the FMC ignore the MC in the next (ending) chapter? Also, as shown in chapter 106.5, doesn't that mean that FMC ignored him for at least 5 years (one year in high school and 4 years in college)?
I'm confused.

The author tried to pull a ToraDora, but without any of the good writing and actually understandable events that led to them making the same choice, so it ended all shallow and nonsensical.
