@Hashire-Sori-Yo I think it was explained that she didn't understand how to build a cannon/artillery piece, but being a gun otaku knows everything about gun assembly, so her reasoning was basically "instead of a cannon, I'll just build a gun... but BIGGER!".
As for why it looks the way it is? Probably to carry that point across better for the readers (but yeah, she could probably shape the outer part to look less ridiculous)

@Faryshta just stop being stupid and learn to read. I said they stand BEHIND it, just NOT behind the SLIDE, don't you know what a slide is? The recoil DOES NOT move the cannon backwards as it is hold stationary with recoil legs in the ground. ONLY the barrel recoils on a slide.
Her revolver would NOT move back as it's held in place with recoil legs. She could easily sit behind it.

@TetsuyaLP since a revolver doesn't have an slide it means it doesn't have a recoil. You are a fucking genius.
@TetsuyaLP The legs hold the recoil on ground level. On gun level specially directly behind the canon is another story. Thats why PAK have slides which absorb the recoil by moving backwards after every shot.

Is pointless to analyze why the legendary thousand folded katana cannot cut an entire building in half cause of the blade lenght.
She can use that weapon cause this is a manga and cause magic. Interesting how people can accept without any question that a traditional mage can move his hands a little maybe say some bullshit, and thanks to it he can literally dominate the laws of reality. But it become a problem when the gun is too big for the loli.
