Wouldn't Mirissa have a harder time in almost all aspects of her life if her brother's life is destroyed? I mean, he is the head of the family, and she is still part of that family. His reputational tanking, is HER reputation being tanked. His bad marriage is basically her getting a bad step-sister. His poverty is her poverty, and so on, and so forth.
