they are twins, one is alive and one is dead. He thought that the girl at his house was the alive one, but just as he said that, the alive one was found somewhere else. So it turned out that the one he confessed to was the dead/ghost one.

To be fair, she did have blood on her face on page 5 and then it disappears later on page 7. So I don't fault the MC for making the assumption that maybe the girl is real since she washed her face.
