A dark side implies that it's a side of someone that exists that you ignore for the sake of your better judgement, at least that's how I read it and believe that's what's intended. That, if he was completely living on impulse and desires, that's what he'd be doing.

Also yeah, kind of my mistake about the goth gf. While I was referencing the live action specifically, I think I actually misremembered with an outfit from the live action and my brain blew things up from there, so I was off on that detail.
