Why are the mom's so pretty wtf.
But I do wonder how long it will take for Little Fish to come out to her parents. Of course I know it's something daunting but her parents would be elated that she found her special someone. These are the same parents that took the microphone she had thrown away and stored it for when she decided to fully pursue voice acting again. A job that is very unstable, and the fact that they support that dream makes it obvious to me at least that they would accept her for being gay.
Shucheng on the other hand still has to deal with her parents. They have not fully accepted the real her yet. I do believe they want the best for her but in doing so are completely ignoring her feelings and trying to form their ideal version of her.
This is a direct parallel to Zhou Yi's situation. Zhou Yi spent her whole life trying to show her real self to her parents, hoping to prove she could like girls while still being their perfect daughter at the same time. But they ultimately did not care.
The difference is telling though. Zhou Yi bent herself into the mold they wanted hoping that would finally earn their attention. Shucheng has done the opposite and made it abundantly clear who she really is, yet the rejection is the same. One fought quietly for acceptance that never came and the other fought openly and got stonewalled anyway. Both roads lead back to parents who love an idea of their daughter rather than the actual person standing in front of them.
