Thanks to the low cost of living in my country, if I prepare the food myself by buying the ingredients and cook at home, $100 would last me 2-4 weeks (food expenditures only.)

It's just like all you can eat sushi

Your wallet is empty but your stomach is too full to have enjoyed the meal

I continue to become increasingly convinced that the princess' supposed "captivity" is actually just a voluntary and benevolent cultural exchange program, and that EX is the only one who never got the memo.

This is why you don't underestimate how much a given amount of food actually is. A kilo could easily fit into your stomach but your gullet can only take so much and if the food's too solid it will have trouble staying down.

One litre of water? Easily downed in a couple minutes.
One kilo of, say, fruit? Should be doable.
A kilo of red meat? Better have fasted for a day and prepare your jaw muscles for the workout of a lifetime. And that's before considering the extra liquid you might need to help swallow it all down.

Yeah, this is why competitive eaters actually train to make their stomachs more elastic by steadily increasing their food/water intake. Of course, assuming we're talking about competitive eating that involves eating large volumes of food, not just eating fast or really spicy food.
