Maybe I just live in an "uncultured" place,
I know it's not impossible to make money from playing piano/other classical instruments like being hired for live bands or decoding stuff for cds/games but idk
If the average person around where I am would stop by a place just to listen to someone solo play a piece or so versus some local theater putting on a musical (and stuff like opera/ballet might be a niche interest if not overpriced as well lol)

then again if you can afford lessons as a kid there's prolly ppl with connections setting up concerts unless it's just like a community doing something to show off their kids lol
