The title page of the chapter is a good summary of the relationship between Mochizuki and Oe-kun: he's shy and is more "passive", yet they're close to each other and have fun.
(I also like the detail that Mochizuki
does practice judo a lot, even if she's a "prodigy", she has to work to become better! Very true to life.)

@ocsibrm I agree that it's not the most probable, but at the same time I remember seeing mostly old copies of very classical books from foreign cultures in remote school libraries in my country (France), so it would not be
that surprising. The Tale of Genji is an old book, so it would make sense a rural middle school would only have this as a text of Japanese origin. Not highly probable, but credible imo!
