fact is, the avant-garde don't follow the very basic rules of calligraphy, which is readable.

In art, breaking the rules comes after mastering them. Each "classical" piece was revolutionary at some point. I really like the two new characters. =)
As a filthy casual who doesn't go out of his way to look at calligraphy, it's fascinating to see some of these nonstandard pieces. Modern art is hit or miss for me, but the ones presented here connect pretty well
