Random pedantic note, page 9 he says the European tiger snake is poisonous - the correct term is venomous. Poisonous means it's dangerous to eat, venomous means it's dangerous to get bitten or stung by.

Thanks, I just read the kanji 毒蛇 as poisonous but it can be read as venomous. If I get time, I'll go back and edit that page.

:0 update on my special interest manga yayyyyy it's been really fun learning about japanese snakes. Never heard of some of the species in this chapter and went on a little deep dive on japanese rat snakes lol.

btw the crow snake and the striped snake won't get you any result if you google them. They will if you search Japanese Crow Snake and Japanese Striped Snake respectively. Those two are both varieties of Japanese Four-lined Ratsnakes. (There's another four-lined ratsnake which is european so they keep having to add location modifiers)

The snake in page 9 and in the feature card is actually a Western Hognose (Heterodon nasicus). They've got a really unique shovel shaped face with a up-turned pointy snoot. You can find a lot of cute videos of them being super dramatic and playing dead. They're rear fanged venomous but are only really a problem if you let them chew on you for a really long time or are allergic.

The tiger snake is a highly venomous Australian snake. There is actually a poisonous and venomous snake with a similar name called the tiger keelback which is found in japan. They eat a lot of poisonous toads and secret those toxins out of their neck. They're also rear fanged venemous. Neato!

Lol yeah I got to that line and pretty much immediately bought the raws to double check (also a good excuse to since I like the series) because that seemed a little too wild to me
