"Since the 90s" well that's more recent compared to "it's been like this for over 200 years" but it might be hard to stop at this point. at least the balloon-heads aren't actively aggressive/trying to attack the mc and baseball guy even if 'something' is happening to make them not see any

Yeah parasites are really cool... totally...

I'm with the friend. I see that anywhere and I'm out. Too creepy to look at and think about :wtf:

Toxoplasmosis is a real scary parasite irl. These things influence you to love cats in order to spread the parasite. I'm talking about obsessive levels of love. Toxoplasmosis is the reason why youtube is flooded with cat videos.

So they must emit some sort of low frequency sound that is able to influence people's brains. It's not that the affected people can't see them, it's that their brains have been, like, pushed into not seeing them. Yuki was able to start seeing them when she actively went out of her way to avoid her "preconceived notions" while drawing. Thus, she ignores what her brain is telling her and sees exactly what actually appears in front of her. Baseball man probably went through something similar, completely emptying his mind to focus entirely on the baseball or whatever. And they can still see them without getting affected again because they haven't actually gotten rid of the brain-influence, they're just ignoring it.

i like how kurumi (kenta-kun?) actually had a fairly realistic and reasonable response to the realization that his hometown was infested with head-inflating parasites, its really streamlined the whole process for the mc

If it's a parasite affecting human brain, then an inanimate object like a camera should indeed be safe from influence. The photographer obviously noticed nothing, or those pictures would not be stored in the library for easy access.
i wonder if mc has tried taking a picture (unless her access is restricted, or someone dedicated to scrubbing as much info away despite the 'everything stays on the net forever' kinda saying) and posting it online for ppl to react to

The headphones make sense but at the same time it's not as if the scientist(?) lady wearing them couldn't also hear the ppl talking to her so idk how much it'd filter it out b/c while nothing too violent has happened yet (other than that 'thing' in the tunnel 'eating' the balloon heads) to where it'd 'infect' the ones who don't see anything to just suddenly grab them/force them to remove their headphones

This is reminds me of uzumaki, but with a LOT better storyline and atmospheric dread. Probably the second best manga when it comes to dr as behind 20th century boys.
