What a dramatic way of saying it. But pretty apt, all things considered.
And I guess Tokiko really was a lot like Chitose is now, when she was younger, based on what Tsukasa said (not to mention the monologue about 'finding god'), but she grew out of it with time, since she seemed a lot less like Chitose in the earlier parts where she started talking about her future plans involving the two superpowers and the space race.
But she still devoted her entire life to pursuing the goal of reaching and studying the moon for answers to Tsukasa's suffering.
Heh... the grandmother (why does the translation keep calling her grandaunt? Clearly if Chitose says she wouldn't have been born if Tokiko hadn't been saved, Tokiko is her grandmother) and granddaughter encouraging her to go out among the people instead of staying a shut-in leading her to find her 'destiny' ...
Really is quite something.
Also I suppose I should have realized the rock they had was from a separate mission, but it was easier to just assume it was an extra Apollo rock that was somehow stricken from records or whatever. But yeah, I was still right that it was ultimately a red herring, or rather a dead end.
