Hahaha... We open with a clear statement of year and time period, but of course this is because this is about when we know the Tale was actually written. And then we get the 'over three centuries, which is about what I was estimating based on her '1400+ years' (or being 16 over 1400 times, rather) statement on how long she's been around. So yeah, more concrete evidence it took place during the 6th century, somewhere between about 520 and 590, I'd say. Shotoku's story picks up only a few years after that range, too, so that lines up. (this also feels like it's all but telling us it's Emperor Kinmei, to be honest, who is Shotoku's grandfather)

I say about 520 for the earliest point of the range because that's around 1500 years before 2018, when the manga was first published, since it has to be less than 1500 for the '1400+ years' to be the most fitting way to say it.


And Kaguya trying to protect them, beause she cares so much, but she can't lie to the Emperor. He sees through her, and makes her admit she doesn't want to leave. The tragedy is unavoidable, however, no matter how much they all want to fight it.

And, yeah... it sounds like the envoy are people, probably former humans who have embraced immortality, who have grown cold and distant with eternal life. A warped existence. It explains why she leaves behind the elixir- for one of them to join her in eternal life, or at least await her possible return. Only one person has awaited her return, and it was none of the ones she was hoping for, but she is still here to welcome her, if they realize who each other are.
