Also I was surprised to see we were getting a new fight without seeing Minchae's feet but the author was just waiting for the flashback.

As for the Love Interest thing, Minchae is clearly a love interest, while it's far from locked in, she's basically the character the MC cares the most about and the only one he picked a fight to defend the honor of.

The fact he commented positively on the smell of her feet when it's clearly the author's barely disguised fetish also point toward that.
