It doesn't justify things, but this is reminding me of the mother/daughter relationship in Angelic Layer: the sickly mother left for treatment and ultimately became too embarrassed to meet her daughter again, that embarrassment evolving into a spiral of self-deprecation further keeping her from even interacting with her daughterThis is strange.
She left her kids home alone for years (until Rin became an adult, even) and almost died out in the wild due to her condition, had the vet guy not found her by pure chance. She could've just stayed with them while the father went out to search for help. She also hasn't sent any letters since chapter 25 where she was already able to write and move about. She met Hirokazu and Suzu before, yet she questions his relationship with them even though he first met her while looking for Rin's medicine, as if he's shady or something.
All of this just feels irresponsible.
I winced a little at the mom's nerve. She is nothing but indebted to this "young man", whether she realizes this or not.Glad Rin and her mom could reconcile after all this time, and lol at the immediate pivot to "so what's all this about dating my daughter, young man?"
Oh god, I completely forgotten how stupidly contrived that part of Angelic Layer was.It doesn't justify things, but this is reminding me of the mother/daughter relationship in Angelic Layer: the sickly mother left for treatment and ultimately became too embarrassed to meet her daughter again, that embarrassment evolving into a spiral of self-deprecation further keeping her from even interacting with her daughter
Remember also that bird people have bird brains. She met Hirokazu and Suzu before, yet she questions his relationship with them even though he first met her while looking for Rin's medicine, as if he's shady or something.
All of this just feels irresponsible.
