I know what this series reminds me of: Ubell Blatt. If not the very vaguely similiar artstyle, its the setting of the fantasy world they are in.

The heck man? Ubel Blatt has very different art style. This manga is very Nihei. It's a medieval rehash of Blame! and Knights of Sidonia. It's got a bit of Aposimz thrown in, but thankfully not too much.

So they know that the scumbag is killing his own citizens, but can't do anything for... reasons...
And they HAVE TO make him king if he saves the princess... just because?...
It's like this comic has one foot in maturity (penis tentacle), and the other in silly childishness, tonally anyway. And yes I know there are "plot reasons" they have to do these things, but it doesn't change the fact they're silly.

But I'm enjoying the childish sillyness all the same.

a lot of real world issues are sustained by silly childishness of human rules and constrains. such is this beautiful world

This really feels like a slow return to form for Nihei-sensei. A lot more blacks being used in the shadows and details. Love to see it.
