Converting "spirit roots"? I've heard of upgrading, adding, removing and remaking but converting? And it even works without effecting his talent?
Cultivation stories often try to follow in line on these things but here not so much.

I don't know much about all the cultivation stuff, but I feel like converting his root would be invasive enough for the master to realize he is a demon.
