This will either be really really poorly written wish fulfillment or actually an ingenious story about some guy learning about street smarts.

Like right off the bat it makes no sense that this priestess who can pretty much print money end up in this situation. What does make sense is someone playing some ridiculous 5d chess to turn the now ex-hero under the influence of the church. Like if hes not getting scammed here I'm disappointed.

You have slave that can print money? Well, the price of that slave will be pretty high. Like x times expected yearly profits.

Like it's a bad thing if slavery exists in a given world and both parties take good care of each other. 🤷‍♂️
Ummm... Yes..? Why is every fantasy garbage manga trying to promote slavery? Why couldn't he have just met her at an adventurers guild, or a tavern, or a blacksmith, or a market place, or even in the forest on his first non-hero quest? Why do they always have to buy them like an item and then proceed to leave them with a collar on and order them around? There's absolutely no moral justification for it. (At least, not when it's done as badly as in this story.)

@Juggernautbob seems like someone is forcing you to read the title you don't like, though it's clear from the description alone that the story includes slavery in it, poor you. Well, I can understand you in some way, for example I don't like NTR, BL, shoujo/josei, shota/loli, and there is a crap load of stuff like this here, but I don't go everywhere and try to ruin everyone's mood just because there is something I don't like, or think is bad and wrong.

Slavery existed for millennias and is a common part of medieval-like settings, deal with it. It is one of the ways to deal with people who committed crimes or have huge debts without making other people pay instead, like we have in modern societies (jails, bancruptsy programs, etc.). And if the boundaries of what you can and cannot do with a slave are set, like in this manga, I cannot see what is so fundamentally wrong with this.

And, what's interesting, there is an ongoing fantasy manga 2 clicks away, when the MC became a slave from the get go, but somehow no one gets hysterical about that there, probably because the MC is male. Color me surprised.

Oooo what's the name of that manga?!? :wooow: also I actually enjoy the occasional story with slave heroines, but it's gotta be done right, and in this case it just isn't. in my opinion, the hero is just some sleazy scumbag who bought a girl to sleep with, and that immediately makes me lose any and all interest in the story.

I already posted a list up there of a few scenarios where slave heroines are better written, but I guess you didn't bother to read. Also one of my favorite types of heroines is literally androids with little to no free will, so yeah it's not the slavery itself, it's just the pathetic main character.

P.S. by shota/loli do you mean shota x loli? Because I like those, I think they're cute. If they're done right, that is.

Thanks for the translation. Former hero should take the old hag. She can negotiate with the king to give up his throne and give it to the former Hero....lol.
glad I'm not the only one that thinks so, she's unfortunately way too expensive rn, she probably owns the whole slave thing too

point is she's old because she WANTS to, if she downs a few rejuvenation potions she's probably the best choice in that room easily

Why do they always have to buy them like an item
It's only how you see them doing it. And I see them actually buying a partner they think would be good and safe for them, if we both talk about adventurers buying slaves. If you just actually read the stories as they are you could probably understand that.

trying to promote slavery
Binding with people is difficult. People are egoistic, self-centric, unreliable and driven by desires/emotions/traumas etc., not by ethics/morals/obligations. Doing it as an adventurer may be actually dangerous as well. You could lose your life and/or money/stuff for a huge number of reasons.

No one promotes slavery, it's about obtaining someone who would be faithful to you in a world no one else is. Even if circumstances aren't perfect, it's shown as a reliable way to find a person who is obliged to you. And if you are a good person then this goes both ways and both parties have a good chance to be at least somewhat happy.

In settings like these, the circumstances already exist and one adventurer cannot do anything about this. And it would be a whole different story if it goes on with the anti-slavery coup/revolution, which is not a theme of this manga.

Why couldn't he have just met her at an adventurers guild, or a tavern, or a blacksmith, or a market place, or even in the forest on his first non-hero quest?
There are already lots of stories where people magically find themselves party members/friends for life/love interests, as if things like that just lie underfoot and you trip over them every couple of minutes should you just go somewhere. You can go and find these anytime, why bother with this one?

proceed to leave them with a collar on and order them around?
Nothing like "ordering around" usually happens, stop making things up. And leaving them with a collar is a normal thing to do. In some cases, it cannot be removed. And, in general, I think it should be a very hardly considered decision and not something to do from the get go, unless you just bought a slave to let them go immediately, which is a completely another story by itself and could be irresponsible, as in many cases slaves wouldn't be able to care for themselves until they start standing firmly on their feet/"get their shit together".

There's absolutely no moral justification for it. (At least, not when it's done as badly as in this story.)
There is also no moral justification against it. There is no background to say so, thus I don't see how it's done here as "badly". Each slave has their own story of crime or debt and they don't look miserable by any means. Most of them could literally decide on "conditions" they could be used for and one slave even starts ordering a trader around, like it's a normal thing and he could not punish her griefly if it was as bad as you try to portray it.

I actually enjoy the occasional story with slave heroines, but it's gotta be done right
"I'll go visit a book store and start ordering people around on what books are right and what should be thrown away". "I'll go browse a porn site and start teaching people how to do things, because I like the genre, but only when it's done in one particular way".
You can continue making stuff like this all day to show yourself how thinking like this is wrong. It may not be your type of story and it's fine, it happens all the time and it's just how the world works. It even shows that we're entitled in some way, having many manga stories to read so that we can say how bad they are.

I already posted a list up there of a few scenarios where slave heroines are better written, but I guess you didn't bother to read
I actually did and found the first two options nonsensical, sorry. The third one could be a good one, but character relation dynamics could go in many different ways and I cannot see why they cannot just like each other from the get go. They both are young (relatively), good-looking and kind. He's probably happy he found someone like her, she could be also glad she was bought by someone like him. It's called being grateful for what you've got, people taught kids this stuff until recently and it worked, you know.
And it doesn't mean they cannot have their development later on. Also, some people may not like waiting for two years for chapters to come out so that the characters have the "proper binding arc", so it's fine for stories like this one to exist. If it's bad, it will probably get axed anyways.

Also one of my favorite types of heroines is literally androids with little to no free will, so yeah it's not the slavery itself, it's just the pathetic main character.
I enjoy android girl romance stuff a lot. As for the main character being pathetic, I cannot really see that.

by shota/loli do you mean shota x loli?
No, just teen/adult on shota/loli. I cannot see myself getting interested in shota x loli at all. As for the former, it could be good in some circumstances, when "things are made right", as you previously said, but once again it's just me and I cannot decide for everyone.

Oooo what's the name of that manga?!? :wooow:

That is a wholeee lotta words, and I'm not going to reply to all of them, but I will reply to a few major points I saw.

First off, yes I agree, a slave is a great choice if you have trust issues and don't want to be betrayed, but it's not such an amazing choice when the first thing you make sure of is the fact that they look like they would be good in bed, and the first place you head to after buying them is a medieval love hotel. That's just called being pathetic, in my opinion.

Secondly, finding party members in a town surrounded by monsters is probably a lot easier than you'd think, heck I don't live in a town surrounded by monsters and I still can find friends, maybe you're projecting your own social short comings with this one?

Third, ummm yeah it does happen? Did this dude ever remove her collar? Because I didn't see him remove anything. Also I've read other stories like this one, and the one thing they all have in common seems to be that the dude COULD remove the collar, but doesn't.

Fourth, yeah umm no. I'm not about to even go into it with "ooo slaves aren't that bad though, look how happy they are all chained up, I make sure to feed them and cloth them, so they must be happy- hey! You! Smile! The buyer is going to think I'm lying!" Also I don't know how you missed the fact that she was rented and then negotiated a price, she did not order the slave trader around, also I feel it was heavily suggested she's going to do something for the slave trader later.

Fifth, excuse me, does your memory have multiple holes in it? A story with a slave heroine in it can be absolute gold, this pile of garbage is not even bronze, and it's not just my opinion or personal preference, lots of other people in this very same comments section also agree that the story is poorly written, and the art is awful. And yes I do feel entitled, entitled to a somewhat decent story and not some teenagers disgusting fantasy poorly thrown onto some paper. The rating system exists for a very good reason, bad manga deserve bad ratings.

Sixth, ok yeah sure, the first two do kind of immediately stop them from being a slave, but that's kind of the point. The only way to justify the main character keeping them in chains so to speak, would be if either the slave or the main character was a villain, if the main character didn't know how to remove their chains, or seeing as it's a fantasy world, my personal favorite, the slave had some sort of brainwashing or mind control affecting them, and was incapable of being set free until either way later in the story, or perhaps never depending on how dark you want it. But if the main character just buys a slave and leaves them in chains, he's either extremely paranoid, or in the case of this manga, extremely perverted.

Seventh, "love at first sight" is extremely boring, stupid, and a pretty obvious cop out when poorly executed, which it definitely was here. She had absolutely no reason to love him, and he only loved her body, so the whole thing is a perverted disgusting mess, with zero romance in sight.

Eighth, if you don't see how a man that immediately goes to buy a woman in order to sleep with her is pathetic, you might want to do some self reflection. He couldn't wait a year, he couldn't wait a month, he couldn't wait a week, he couldn't even wait a single day before just immediately going ahead and running to the nearest cheap, attractive woman selling establishment and then promptly headed to an inn without even getting equipment for adventuring.

Ninth, onee x shota will always be one of my favorite genres, but mainly just because of the onee part and not the shota. Because aside from small age gaps like a 15 year old onee-san and a 12 year old shota, it's pretty much just grooming. Onee x 16-17 year old is way better, but at that point they aren't a shota, and finding good stories like that is sadly a bit difficult, so I just read onee x shota and occasionally find good onee x teenager.

P.S anything with lolis in it immediately drops in quality in my opinion, and immediately drops by at least 3.7 ratings if it shows them in an adult way while also trying to make them child-like.

Man I spent way too long typing this at 2:30 am, it'd be hilarious if nobody even read it now. Also I'm so tired I would be amazed if I even typed one of these points correctly lol.

None of this is true in this story.
Secondly, finding party members in a town surrounded by monsters is probably a lot easier than you'd think, heck I don't live in a town surrounded by monsters and I still can find friends, maybe you're projecting your own social short comings with this one?
Finding just anyone is and wasn't a problem ever. And it's not about finding just anyone. You literally entrust your life to your party members. So think it out a bit, or maybe it's you who is projecting something here instead?
Third, ummm yeah it does happen? Did this dude ever remove her collar? Because I didn't see him remove anything. Also I've read other stories like this one, and the one thing they all have in common seems to be that the dude COULD remove the collar, but doesn't.
You clearly didn't read what I've written or you do like interpreting things as you like whenever it suits you. And I didn't see any arguments from you on why they should actually do this. Just because?
Fourth, yeah umm no.
Blah-blah.
Fifth, excuse me, does your memory have multiple holes in it? No, not excuse. Saying the story/art is generally bad is one thing and the other thing is coming to the comments just to crap about "bOoo, sLavEry iS BaaAd". Feel entitled however you like, just bear in mind that other people are as much entitled to something as you are.
Sixth, ok yeah sure, the first two do kind of immediately stop them from being a slave, but that's kind of the point.
No, it's just your personal delusions without actually thinking at least one step ahead. I won't even bother answering your further statements at this point.
Seventh, "love at first sight"
There wasn't a single thing said about love.
Eighth, if you don't see how a man that immediately goes to buy a woman in order to sleep with her is pathetic, you might want to do some self reflection.
A man sees a beautiful woman and wants to sleep with her. "BooOo, pAthEtiiiC!". Do some self reflections on that. And I won't event start on that he actually considered each one of them on how useful they'll be for him as an adventurer prior to making any decisions.
Ninth, onee x shota will always be one of my favorite genres, but mainly just because of the onee part and not the shota.
Wholly agree on this one.
Man I spent way too long typing this at 2:30 am, it'd be hilarious if nobody even read it now. Also I'm so tired I would be amazed if I even typed one of these points correctly lol.
You should better go and have a proper rest if 2:30 am is actually a time when you should be asleep.

P.S.: At this point I'm out, as our discussion doesn't seem neither pleasant nor productive and I don't feel any energy/desire left to prove something. The execution of the story is crappy, but main decisions themselves are fine. If you don't think so, ok, you do you and I do me.

Then authors would need to write a character that's reasonably able to make the heroine fall for them instead of a magical contract forcing the matter.

Ok, agree to disagree I guess. But I had fun with the discussion, heck it was way better than the time I had an argument with a misogynist lol, that was like talking to a brick wall, where as with you, you actually brought up some good points. Well at least we can both agree that androids and onee-sans are good heroines lol.

You underestimate these bumbling drunkards pretending to be writers, because even when the hero meets the heroine in a different place, they somehow become attracted because the hero is "so kind". What makes them so kind you may ask? Oh well, that's because they used 0.1% of their power to kill a goblin attacking someone, when it completely benefited the hero to do that, and it's also their job to kill monsters anyways.

Honestly, why is it so hard to find a well written story, where the hero actually struggles and fails sometimes? And where they have actual depth to their character, and face moral dilemmas that force them to make a choice that isn't good for everyone?

Slave. Someone who won't betray me, has common sense, and will take care of my needs.
Lmao. The author is so damn biased.

Forgetting about real-life slaves, I remember read an isekai where the MC wants to come back because he has a sick little sister to protect. While in isekai he founds a slave who resembles his little sister and buys her out of guilt. He treats her so nice to the point she is confused by it.

But his goal ultimately is to leave that world and he never tells her about it. One day just when he decides to leave, she is already waiting at the door. She does everything she can to prevent him from leaving. That betrayal took me out more than Griffith.

Yeah that was kind of funny to me, who in the world would ever think a slave was more trustworthy than an adventurer?
