Long lived to the point of out living civilizations. iirc the rest of the elves were wiped out during the last war with the demon lord.

I love the exposition, its good that they're taking the time to do this now instead of flashing it back later when ed and tia have a conversation about how she got there.
It smoothens out the entire plot from there and you can start world 2 without having to think of world 1 anymore at least until the next time ed resets his life
