Editor: Hmm we need to pad the chapter count to fill the next volume but we also need something to keep people hooked like a cliffhanger.
Author: Say no more.

Seems like the exile left a bigger scar on Rain than I expected.
Right in the middle of all this absurdity, it carefully depicts the isolation and anxiety of having your identity stripped away. The way he panics and asks why the girls are singing shows he has absolutely zero situational awareness left.

One second it's a meme, the next it's a deep dive into the realistic psycology. Crazy.

The manga team is really cooking ngl, they have utter clownery coupled with strangely real, deep psychological themes and how the characters are effected. It's strange to think the base novel was just slop when there's a lot going on under the surface in this version.

Wait, so he was self-aware about his clown attitude all the time?
I think that just makes it funnier :pepela:

I feel that's another reason this manga is so good, you don't expect this depthness from vast majority of series

Like, half the manga is clearly comedy and then it hit you like a truck with the feels and it's not even generic emotional scene

I think what really carries this series is that the characters feel like real people, more than most writers can do, the way they mess around with other like real friends would do is a good example of that, how many series you see things like that? And then to balance out author drops some of the most emotional and real sad scenes you wouldn't expect, much less from a series like this

I can only imagine how much peak it becomes to still be ongoing at 17 volumes

It really goes to show that even the most average or mediocre work can become a masterpiece when adapted by the right person, mangaka took a bunch plain flat characters and gave them more depth that most writers can only dream of

Apparently Gyoumuyou mochi sensei draws the manga entirely alone, the LN author and editor only doing the final checks.

Man, the bonds and interactions between the characters are just so immaculate and... real, something you don't see even on seinen psychological manga.

Pretty much. He could afford to when he knew he was needed and valued. When everything else is stripped away and he realises he's just the party clown is when he breaks down.

Manga status: still insanely good.

this is so good, altho i do wish it was a bit more serious sometimes as like the gag comedy routine can run dry pretty quick
