I'm pretty sure he was describing the ring that was stolen by the adventurers he let in previously, to explain why he didn't know that this explosion was vastly larger. The gate was already closed before it went off, so the blast didn't reach their dimension.

No, he didn't.
The two did survive yes, but the bit about the other dimension is in regards to him thinking he knew the size of the blast he was about to make, but not realizing the blast that had killed the first little Tomoe had been heavily suppressed over there at the time.

Makoto continues to stay out of Human-Demon war, while getting stronger so he can defeat Goddess. Other gods are supporting him, though there's limits to what they can directly do.
Hibiki thinks Makoto will destroy world he fights Goddess (It wont, since fight will happen in god realm) so is trying to stop him.
Tomoki hates Makoto and its trying to get stronger to fight him. Makoto despises Tomoki and has tortured him for trying to take Tomoe from him.

Power; Makoto gets stronger to the point of being strongest existence in the world, working towards god-level power. He learns more ways to effectively use his power (Like a JoJo stand). His followers power up too. He gains more direct followers and Asora gets more residents. Asora is the most powerful nation (Even excluding Makoto & His followers), though it's existence is still not publicly known.
Influence; Makoto & Kuzunoha have strong influence in Tsige, Rotsgard, Demon Nation & Lorel (Nation), their leaders know him and are desperate to maintain a good relationship with him. Demon Lord knows his full strength and does not want to risk making him an enemy.
Romance; Makoto becomes lovers with Tomoe & Mio (Yes, they have [very intense] sex).

I think that covers most of the key stuff, I left out story arcs themselves as they're not so important.
