Oh he has a proper job/at a work place, i assumed he was a high schooler though i might be thinking of that other foodie manga with the high school boys lol

tho i'd think there'd more than a need for steamed/simmered pumpkins/squash for other nutrients too

That's my initial thought. Then I realize that this manga is more like a preview for that popular cookbook on meal prep. The side dishes introduced tend to taste better the next day (more time to marinate in the sauces) and store well. I think there will be plenty of hearty main dishes in that cookbook. No young dude is going to live on kabocha alone :).

I've realized that the main character doesn't have a drop lid (otobushibuta), a common tool for making simmered kabocha. This is so realistic.
