I'm a bit surprise to see this but damn, real yaknow, I'm a bit surprise to see this consider the average Japanese person is not very politically knowledgeable but that can be said for almost every lay person from any countries really, just bit more for the Japanese's political apathy

That's a bit inaccurate. Germany and nearly every other country that the United States has fought against or aided militarily is compelled to allow US military bases through long-standing treaties, ideology, or realpolitik. Japan's not unique in that regard.

And it's not the US keeping Japan disarmed, either. The US actually wanted Japan to fully remilitarize as early as the late 40s to counter the PRC and the spread of communism. There's a reason Japan's SDF was founded in 1954, just after the Korean War and a full year before Germany's Bundeswehr. It would be ideal for America if Japan expanded its military since China and Japan would keep them in the American sphere of influence, anyway.

In short, the Marshall Plan's Reverse Course allowed the de facto remilitarization of Japan through the SDF and it would suit American interests if they continued to do so. It's Japanese interests and domestic politics that keep their military relatively small.

this is just wrong, US actually WANT japan to armed themselves quickly after the war so they can be useful bulwark against communism, especially after korean war stalemate. it's japan political elite that know their military very often toppled their power every time they has the chance and current US high influence in defence was more profitable for them so they refuse to do so and promoting pacifism really hard and refuse really hard. they can get away refusing US demand because they know if they replaced, they next most popular guy are communist and US definitely didn't want that. yes people tend to forget but the main japan opposition party from late 50's to late 60's was communist party.

If Japan remilitarize during those time periods, would they have an uprising or extreme reformation or maybe would they instead of being a vassal state, they would just be an american state ? then again i don't know much and I shouldn't care much either since I'm not a japanese citizen
