Diode truly is a Real One.

According to our translator, as of this chapter, roughly half of the first novel volume (of three currently published - a fourth is also in the works) has been adapted.

The next update is scheduled for May 17. The first volume is scheduled for release on June 7, so it may end up being an illustration instead of a full chapter. If you have the means, consider purchasing the volume once it releases - the first volume sales strength strongly influences the series' future!

Great chapter, Thank you for the work!

One thing however I dislike most about these situations in stories and such, though at least in this manga our characters are already starting in a hinge position. But! I mean, com'n. You lose, then you lose everything. He loses, he loses nothing? Bet him his place, he stops being a chief since he is clearly too big for these britches.

To your point about them already being in a hinge position, I like how the story so far (and this chapter especially) have had a lot of little things that have been illustrating the general conservatism of the setting. At this point, it's clear they're fighting the odds, so even when they get an unequal proposition like this dictated to them, it still feels like it's a win. A win that's probably prone to a bunch of skullduggery and takesies-backsies, but at least it's something.

Yeah, I just hope they will get more out of it than just a boat ride, so to speak. Afterwards they will still have to deal with Die's clan later on. I can't imagine it playing out in similar fashion as the story would be repeating itself, but I can already perceive a storm's brewing.

As I thought a few chapters ago, they (both of them but particularly Diode) have been getting their entire strategy all backwards. It's not just pointless but entirely backwards to try to put down their own abilities and "blend in", because that's just impossible for them given who they are. They're a clear break from the norm in a tradition bound society, so they're going to stand out, no matter what. So unless they were going to just submit and give in, the only choice is to stand out as strange but also incredible and convince everyone with raw ability (and profit/political benefits that come with bringing in huge harvests). They should have been breaking record after record as hard as they could, nothing speaks louder than success.

Preferably they'd do that while not making unnecessary enemies, though some are inevitable. But it's much easier to grease the wheels with an ample supply of grease too. They're kids though and haven't exactly had much support or been taught so can't blame them for making poor strategic choices early on. Fortunately seems they'll have more chances! "Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind" applies in lots of ways here :meguusmug:

what I love about comments like this is if that was a woman being pissed at a guy for doing the same thing and anyone called her a petty cat lady with a fragile ego, the kind of person that would post this would rage at that and use 50 bots to mass report the comment to get it taken down so...

One thought I keep coming back to after this chapter is how 'maintenance' of the Endeavor Clan's culture and tradition require women to function as reproductive cogs in economically-prestigious jobs. The people whose jobs involve making economic and cultural decisions work in relatively new, well-maintained chambers. Meanwhile, the clan's cultural archives exist in a clear state of neglect and disrepair.

Terra's creativity and deep sense of connection to humanity's past make her the embodiment of everything Endeavor Clan claims to be about, but because her identity doesn't neatly slot into the expected roles, she's looked down on as a weirdo who can't get with the program.

Really kind of impressed with how this chapter lays out the organizing thought processes underlying homophobia.
