Dont know how it works in japan, but if he gets to 18 without having finished High school, he is kinda fucked, as he has to prepare himself for some of the hardest test in a contested college while self providing and still has to finish HS.

And at his age there isnt that much support and even less people to provide for you.

He had quite a devout childhood too, his mom died off illness, and he lived in that orphanage for at least a decade. He gets to be a little jaded.
Also: can cook, can clean, is handy,  and good with kids, not to mention studying to become a doctor? If anything, he's the catch.
