My theory here is that the friend is actually possesed by the fox like it did with Yae previously. Buy seriously, is like there is a cosmic plan and everyone except Uryuu and the sisters are on it.

If you're talking about the time they were pranking him about the fortune, that wasn't a possessed Yae. We don't yet know the truth of that situation, but it wasn't her.
