Heyhey!
The whole joke about Ghost Stories is that ADV Films had the rights for the anime, but threw the original script out of the window because they thought it sucked. The voice actors were told to do whatever they wanted as long as it was something that could be sold, and you can guess how infamous was the result that came to be from that simple statement.

As someone who was going to cons pretty regularly during the period this happened, it was pretty divisive and also hilarious. ADV was kind of a train wreck of a company - the general consensus among folks I knew (including a few of the Texas-based American VAs that were active at that time) seemed to be that when they were on they were brilliant, and when they weren't they sucked. No great surprise they imploded a couple years after this.
