(I found Tokyo crowded, expensive and uninteresting aside the udon place next door and going to Diamond Moon. The countryside is gorgeous and fun, though.
If anyone ever goes, LEAVE THE FAMOUS CITIES. THE CITIES ARE SICK OF FOREIGNERS. GO TO SMALLER PLACES LIKE SHIZUOKA OR OKAYAMA, OR SMALL TOWNS. PEOPLE ARE PSYCHED TO MEET FOREIGNERS AND MAYBE USE ENGLISH. YES I AM YELLING.

Go to Atami if you wanna go to a touristy place. They have hot springs literally spraying out of the ground onto the street. It has a beach. It has at least one amazing sushi place. 19 years ago anyway...
