Because he's a very flawed person? I thought that was the whole point of the story as the description indicated, which you have no right to act all surprised if it said so right there. MC's friend is indeed a far better person.. but he's too uninteresting so far and couldn't be MC with the narrative of the story anyways.

Also, let's not act like MC is the only crappy person here. Honestly, the friend is perhaps the only good person in the main cast.. since that class President girl clearly isn't any better than the MC. On top of those moments with her inner thoughts admitting her shitty behavior, she was quite a physically abusive "friend" to MC since chapter 1. Why I think she deserves no sympathy after she got used by him doing his idiotic damage control.

Just about every main person in this story so far is shit in one way or another. At least the teacher can fully & clearly admit her wrongdoings.. unlike some of these other fuckers who don't think they're doing anything wrong, or even do so and try to justify it.
