That's a pretty stupid comparison, she had to live constant fear of being found out that she was a boy. She downplays herself because she believes she has been wrong from start and need to apologise to the girl whom she bullied, at the same time, she believes that she doesn't have the courage to face that girl.

It's pretty relevant in this story since he got first hand experience of sexual assault by his former friends. He couldn't fit in with the girls and the boys just turn their target of bullying to him, so I could at least see why he is the way he is right now
