WOWWWW between this doujin and after god, eno sumi is really probably my favourite mangaka atm LOL.
i absolutely adored how the MC interjected his thoughts, the way he described his thoughts on what he would do, from his analysis of jun's authorial intent, to how little parts of himself sneak in -- i can't help but be reminded of that part where they were walking and he was looking at the rusted iron fences, when he talks about the audience's (and presumably his) memories of flickering fluorescent lamps.
and like, that part alone is so wonderful, but then there's the elaboration on what he thinks wrt the purpose of nozomi's art ... why he thinks, perhaps, jun's art reaches a broader audience than his -- and i think it'd be rly interesting to consider whether he genuinely, authentically believes this himself or how much that has been influenced by his exp under various editors, and i love the visualization of his despair through the scenery / his prev editors / jun -- but also i think it's phrased very interestingly by eno sumi, because it's very much not a diss on the quality of jun's work or a knock on people who do prefer more visually simple / less subtle work.
as an aside to that, i'm kind of curious about when eno sumi was writing this, or i suppose what exactly she's envisioning when she describes yaharu's (?) work. because i feel like in recent years, there have been manga reaching great success that can be subtle ... i'm mostly thinking of csm here, i suppose, since iirc eno sumi is a fan of that manga ... but i suppose perhaps there's a difference in subtetly in plot vs. visually? idk
anyway i could go on forever, all this is to say i absolutely loved this chapter, thank you so much for the translations!!!!
