| Well Usogui has been one hell of journey from start to finish. This finale chapter was quite solid and leaves quite a bit of room for a sequel with the last few chapter introducing new group of enemies "The Vices" along with who i would assume would be the next big bad Mr Gonen. I really liked how Baku had a heart transplant and that is why he was always out of breath and what not, and Mr Gonen looking and acting like Baku because he has his heart is truly something. Im glad to see Souichi Kiruma is back in the game, though i wonder why he stated he would probably lose. The panel in ch 538 with Baku talking about how life is just like a gamble is one of personal favourites in this manga. Now for my thoughts on the entirety of the manga. First off the character from the main cast to the side, this one of Usogui's strong suits. First you have the main trio Baku, Kaji and Marco three exceptional characters who are enjoyable to see throughout the manga from Baku and Kajis top tier gambles to Marco and his great fights. The side cast aint lacking at all, you have Souichi Kiruma the "The Leader" Who we got to see throughout and his build up and the gambles he was in where some of if not the best in the manga. Then theres all the referees who each have unique personalities some of my favourites being Kadokura, Midara and Yakou. The villains dont disappoint either, with Vincent Lalo the leader of ideal, who competed in air poker another top tier arc. Sadakuni one of the first who was quite interesting in both his gambles in character. Suteguma, who was apart of tower of karma. and many more. The arcs, the fisrt half i quite enjoyed of this manga and a severly underappreciated arc would be the opening one with Marcos introduction another underated arc would be battleship as i feel many people dont like it as much because Oofuna takes center stage. But i feel the second half of this manga is where its a masterpiece all the way until the end. From Tower of Karma onward it is perfect. Especially protoporos - air poker- surpassing the leader and epilogue. The art is also some of the best in manga up there with vinland saga, berserka and vagabond and whats even more impressive is Usogui was weekly, showing how talented Mr Toshio sensei is. Chapter to chapter is top tier art. truly a goat. overall this would be my second favourite manga, behind kokou no hito of course. I feel this manga is almost perfect from the characters, the story, the arcs its all top tier. Usogui is truly a masterpiece. |
