I think this stuff is great. Cheerful, driven, off-kilter protagonists, in a swords-and-sorcery setting so angsty, brooding, and full of sultry gay fanservice, it couldn't possibly not be from the 90's... (yup, just checked, it started in 1996).
It's also got some cute bits scattered here and there too. Especially in the beginning, with all the vampire "cat" stuff going on.
Currently a third of the way through, I keep wanting to add a shounen-ai tag because of all the times there are men kissing each other and/or in love with each other. But it's never quite prominent enough to merit it. Ah, this feeling is so nostalgic...

...But wow, I generally never touched Tokyopop stuff much back in the day, and I never realized that their translations were so... uh, liberal. It's like reading a dub. Mangaupdates says a group called Cat Chan Scans did something with this a long time ago, I wonder what those scanlations were like and if they still exist somewhere...
