You're welcome, but there is something about Vampire Princess Miyu Saku that absolutely frustrates me. And it's that I find it difficult to tell if it's meant to be part of the same continuity as the original Vampire Princess Miyu manga or a separate one entirely. As the creators of the franchise, Narumi Kakinouchi and Toshihiro Hirano are the most likely to know, and I sent them an email for confirmation, but I am not sure if I'll get a reply from them. The first indication of this confusion is that when I translated the last chapter of Volume 3, Reiha talked as though this were the first time she and Miyu met. I changed the translation to make them talk as though they have met before, but Larva's backstory also created some confusion. I hope we find a way to contact the creators and ask them for an answer.I started reading the English version of the Vampire Miyu manga back in the early 2000's. Unfortunately in 2004, Ironcat (the US publisher) went out of business before having the chance to translate volumes 6 through 10. I purchased those versions in Japanese so I could see what happened. I never imagined 20 years later that I would get the chance to read volumes 6 through 10 in English. Thank you, NoisyCricket for providing English translations of this series and Vampire Miyu Saku!
It did initially feel as if Saku was a continuation of the original manga especially with the return of Ranka as the second tier guardian. You're welcome, but there is something about Vampire Princess Miyu Saku that absolutely frustrates me. Well, the truth is, she didn't actually mention Lemures in the original Japanese text. I added it in there myself. In the original, raw, untranslated text, she just called Black Kite a "Dirty Old Man."and in 22, Miyu makes a callback to Lemures as if she’s already dealt with him (I.e.; returned to the darkness).
Ah..well that clears some things up. Thank you for pointing that out.Well, the truth is, she didn't actually mention Lemures in the original Japanese text. I added it in there myself. In the original, raw, untranslated text, she just called Black Kite a "Dirty Old Man."
Maybe I just wanted a quick callback to the original manga and was still under the impression that this manga was meant to be a follow-up to it. Which is also why I rewrote Miyu's interaction with Reiha to make them out to recognize each other.Ah..well that clears some things up. Thank you for pointing that out.
Why not leave it as “dirty old man” if you don’t mind me asking?
