FINALLY we get Canute my second favourite character behind Askeladd. It's been far too long. People will disagree, but I agree with Canute's ideals a million times more than Thorfinn's. Thors had it figured out though not completely, but Thorfinn at this point in the story is a true slave to peace, willing to drag others down with him for the sake of it. Not a fan.

He remind me to Karl Fritz from AoT which he would rather see his people perish than to wage a war for his people

Comparing Thorfinn to that is ridiculous. Thorfinn is also trying to prevent war, he's just attempting to find the way to do it that doesn't involve killing. And Hild's plans also have the potential to spark further conflict than solving it.

what are the odds of this survivor also being infected
Last chapter hinted at it; the scene with Canute all but implies a possible pandemic of some kind(plague, though this series takes place in between the 1st and 2nd major plague pandemics in history). Clearly they are going to stop Hild, but then the Lnu are going to be hit with this disease from the settlers.

Seeing Canute was a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. I was so curious to see how he was doing and it also fits in perfectly to show us how swiftly a potential epidemic could be controlled in Europe, even then.

Also the absence of the Lnu makes me fear they either have also come to know the plague, or Hild has already taken action. I hope none of the main cast has the pest. Edit: unfortunately the Palmuk and Nisqauji'j are the most likely to get infected as they spend the most time with the norse but that would hurt far too much.

Honestly I hope we find out some twist to Hild's plans pretty soon here because, like.....even from the most cold-blooded perspective.....this just seems dumb?

Like....how does she think it's gonna go if Miskwekepu'j just turns up dead one day when tensions with the nords are already high? Or even just conveniently goes missing? The Lnu are probably going to connect some dots together if that happens, and nobody's likely to feel great about where those dots lead. This seems like basic shit.

Unfathomably based Thorfinn.

There can be no "righteous violence", I too believe this.

I think "Righteous Violence" do exist Thorfinn. For example as a way to liberate yourself from oppression or defending yourself.

However, in context that Thorfinn talking about (Canute robbing the farm, Hild murder attempt) Thorfinn might have a point, but very difficult to realize especially in the era he's actually in.

A plague will be an interesting antagonist. Will Thorfinn go full isekai and introduce modern medicine with modern quarantine centers to avoid burning infected people? Or will he just disarm the plague and the plague will walk away friends with him?

I 100% agree with you! Thorfinn's mentality is gonna get his people killed!
