It's not soul crushing sad but like kinda just... the feels kind of sad. It's been 3 months but what I remember is

the girl was accused of murdering her teacher by her sister and mother (but they never said it out loud, just like treated her differently because they thought she was a heartless killer) because the teacher was actually freaking absuing her for the girl finding out that she killed a little 5 year old boy after abusing him by leaving him in a car in the summer. So she began to hate the academy (she has like expectations of feelings of inferiority because her sister is very smart and talented, but her mom doesn't even consider her for being kind of lacking.) ML finds out that MC 'is a killer' bcs her sister's diary. Turns out she misunderstood, duh. Anyway ML was her friend back in school who moved over from a different town, he had a whole pretty garden but kinda got sad because of the new environment and there was no garden there... I think he liked gardening even when he died, lol. He died from cancer, hair loss from chemo the whole 9 miles, starting from back in like elementary school or something, and girl was his friend before and she visited from time to time and were real close. I don't recall properly but I think guy likes(??) her? But something happened and he had to move away for treatment or something like that, and somehow broke contact with the girl due to some misunderstanding or coincidental event. Anyway he died the year before the story is set, his parents got divorced so when girl visits the house it's only the mom that's there. Feels cus woman is right there but the ML can't talk to her at all..,, MC doesnt recognize ML so its a plotpoint, until he reveals it to her. He saves her also from a truck cus she tried to protect a child. Girl also reunites with her dead dog, if you know... and it just becomes like a help the souls of the damned kind of thing for a few chaps, a tear-jerker with a dad who passed away and couldn't say his last words to his family so the girl helps them out. Theres also a meddlesome redhead(?) ghost who has the power of futuresight. Yes, some ghosts have powers... only certain ones ig. Additionaly the sister drama comes to an end when the soul of the teacher possesses her and tries to kill them both via jumping off construction site, but the sister is hurt and the ghost dude who the MC can actually touch saves her[MC. from getting hurt]. Anyways the drama of the girl being a psychopathic arson is cleared up because she did not do this, it was the teacher's cigarette that set everything on fire. Mom + sis trying to repair relationship w/ MC. Anywho lady cant go out of purgatory where she feels like being burned alive for eternity until she is forgiven for her sins, MC pretends to but doesn't in the end, thus leading to sister possession to try and ruin her life. BTW purgatory souls that linger too long become evil. Seems like it'll be happy end but. ML is literally dead.

Huh. I guess I remember quite a bit. Well, this series was very good, so go figure

cus he was crying over his tree cus his mom was so depressed she overdosed and him with his poltergeist-y antics texted 911 to save her. and he wishes he was back and he literally comes back. But that's only ch 43 I need to read more-
