Now that I'm at the end of it all, I have to say that this manga has been surprisingly unsatisfying. Too often did the opponents of a given arc get away pretty much consequence free for the things they did. Even in cases where there isn't really any good way to "punish" them without the main group causing more trouble for themselves, the enemy carried on afterwards without anything more than a basic "sorry about the trouble" (if even that), despite trying to kill a child.

Like, it gets hard to sympathize with them during their big emotional moments that resolve an arc when afterwards they just cheerfully carry on without the slightest bit of remorse.

And then there's the whole situation with Shiro (which, absolutely fuck the custody department, btw. They're all just a bunch of unapologetic authoritarian assholes). Despite Tooru and Kuu-Chan seemingly expressing desires and plans to find a third option, to find a way to help Shiro, in the end Kuu just acquiesced immediately and that was that. At most, we got a "Shiro is in stable condition", but the implication is still there that Shiro has been sealed away for all eternity simply bc she made the gods a bit uncomfortable, and she'll never get to be part of Tooru's family.

It's all just... really unsatisfying, especially given that the manga has somehow kept a fairly light-hearted tone through all of this, to the point that things seem almost flippant in the end.
